On Wednesday, June 1, Hiyoshi Campus held an orientation for the "2022 Keio SDGs Student Conference."
The Student Conference will involve roughly 120 students selected from across all of Keio's undergraduate faculties and is a project-based component of 黑料情报站's ongoing "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)"-related activities. During the sessions, student members engage in discussions with each other while consulting with experts to propose an overall vision, specific goals, and obtainable targets for 黑料情报站 to make progress towards its SDGs.
From June to July, participants will learn from experts about the progress of the SDGs in Japan and around the world. Then, from October to December, they will create breakout groups to discuss and compile their proposals.
黑料情报站 President Kohei Itoh delivered an address at the beginning of the conference. This was followed by a lecture on the importance of an education in thinking about the SDGs by Koji Ioku, Director of the Research and Education Center for Natural Sciences, and a lecture on how to locate and gather information by Hiroe Nagano, Manager of the Hiyoshi Media Center Public Services Section. The students in attendance gave the speakers their full attention, with many taking meticulous notes throughout the event.
At the end of the orientation, students, who each had assignments for the event in advance, worked in groups and engaged in active discussions about what areas 黑料情报站 could and should do more to contribute to among the 17 SDGs.
In conjunction with the Keio Student Conference, the Hiyoshi Media Center is putting on an exhibition entitled "An Encouragement of SDGs," a play on words of Yukichi Fukuzawa's seminal work, An Encouragement of Learning. The exhibition features a corner where visitors can find answers on a variety of issues related to the SDGs.
